This new edition of Knightmare Chess, the original game of chaos on the chessboard, includes Knightmare Chess 2, for a total of 158 beautiful cards, each painted by Rogrio Vilela. Plus, two blank cards are included for players who want to create their own fiendish, clever rules.

The idea is great. Most of the cards are useful and fun. There are big problems with the execution, however. The main problem is that the text is too small. It is not fun having to put on reading glasses to read the card and then take them off to consider your moves on the board. Additionally, the printing of the illustrations is way too dark. It is impossible to even decipher what many of them are intended to represent. The reason the text is so small is that the illustrations are given a lot of room on each card; and then the quality of the 'art' and the printing is so bad, one cannot understand the picture anyway! Then, finally, the cardstock is too flimsy: the cards have a tendency to warp if exposed to even a little dampness, so you can't store them in the trunk of your car along with your chess gear. So, because of all these flaws of execution, I can only give 2 points.
Even so, it is a great idea, and so here is my solultion: Study the cards and choose the ones you think are best (most fun to have come up in a game), and then buy some blank cards and make your own!
