Azul invites you, a tile laying artist, to embellish the walls of the Royal Palace of Evora.
Introduced by the Moors, "azulejos" (originally white and blue ceramic tiles) were fully embraced by the Portuguese, when their King Manuel I, on a visit to the Alhambra palace in Southern Spain, was mesmerized by the stunning beauty of the Moorish decorative tiles. The king, awestruck by the interior beauty of the Alhambra, immediately ordered that his own palace in Portugal be decorated with similar wall tiles.

I've played this four times now and have thoroughly enjoyed each play through (2x solo as 2P, 4P and 3P games). The game is amazingly beautiful to look at and so much fun to play. I was actually pleasantly surprised by the amount of strategy I still need to learn to be any good at this game. My mom caught on quite quickly and she won both of the 4P and 3P games by quite a bit. The entire family had a great time. Highly recommend this game.
So far, this has been one of my top five games of the year. Easy to teach, quick playing rounds, and very puzzly. A beautiful abstract game on the table that is fun to play back-to-back-to-back.
